15 Best Parenting Podcasts For Navigating Parenthood

Sharing is caring!

Apart from discussing with other parents and learning from them, I love listening to Podcasts. Parenting Podcasts are an avenue to hear about different parents’ experiences and know that you are not alone in the game.

The much I know about motherhood today is not because of the few years I have spent being a mother, but because even before I became a mother, I have always asked questions, read books, and listened to the experiences of other parents.

There is something about sharing life experiences that people connect to because they can relate; they may have passed through similar experiences that they found hard to handle and hearing other people’s experiences may be the way they find the answer.

But, not only do you hear about the experiences of other parents, they offer you tips and share ideas and strategies to help in your parenting journey.

1.  Good Insight Podcast

Good insight is an inspirational podcast. The founder, a clinical psychologist Dr. Becky Kenned aims for parents to see parenting differently.

She wants parents to know that parenting is much more than punishment but creates strong bonds and relationships to spur and modify behavior.

She also centers her podcast on mindful parenting and establishing value systems in the home. I love her perspective on parenting.

Parenting does not have to be with Rod and sticks; in the new age, we have seen that such a parenting method is not always practical.

Building close bonds with one’s kids and establishing parent-child solid relationships with your kids while establishing value systems in the home should make up our parenting plan.

They would help us raise well-rounded individuals. What I like best about her podcast is that it spurs parents to re-evaluate their previous ideals and thought patterns and makes them more open-minded to seek newer and better ways of parenting.

Dr. Becky hosts her podcast with her friend, a clinical psychologist Dr. Erica Belsky, and other guests. My favorite episode is “Gabby Bernstein helps Dr. Becky With Her Anxiety.”

This episode discusses managing parental anxiety with practical steps suggested by Gabby or Becky.

The good insight offers you ideas about parenting, parenting oneself, parental connection with their kids, tips, strategies, and steps to take that you can follow to make the parenting game easier.

It also offers a community where you can thrive, learn, grow and connect with fellow women.

2.  The Mom–Hour Podcast

Another favorite parenting podcast of mine is the Mom-Hour podcast. It is co-hosted by Meagan Francis and Sarah Powers. Parents with kids of different ages ranging from pre-scholars to teenagers.

They have practical experience handling toddlers, kids, and teenagers. They share those valuable tips with various real-life examples.

You are enveloped in warmth, laughter, and reassurance when listening to each podcast. I feel this is what makes them unique from other podcasts.

Listening to Meagan and Sarah talk and share their experiences makes you feel like you are listening to a trusted friend that understands.

They do not just make you feel relieved of the burdens of motherhood, and they also offer practical tips that help you ride through the motherhood journey with zeal.

I love the “Growing kids, year by year (Ages 2 -8) and (Ages 9-17), that is, episodes 375 and 385. I feel these two episodes summarize the whole timeline of a young child, the time when our kids are very young and depend on us.

What we do or do not do at this critical time can make or mar a parent-child relationship.

I am glad that they focused on these critical aspects of a child’s life, and these episodes help us mirror our parenting journey while looking forward to seeing what we want to achieve and backward to see what we did or did not do well.

3.  Pregnancy Confidential

Confidential pregnancy podcast is another parenting podcast you do not want to miss. This podcast is unique because it centers on pregnancy. So pregnant moms or soon-to-be parents do not want to miss this.

Pregnancy confidential updates episodes that guide pregnant moms and their partners on what to expect during the whole nine-month journey. It’s all real talk here, no hiding the fact or painting pregnancy as a scary or a breeze.

Pregnancy confidential is hosted by editors from Parent. The popular parenting blog. They bring to your plate all the highs and emotions, signs and symptoms to expect, and especially what you can do to make the ride easy.

And what is particularly remarkable is that the hosts always enlighten us without boring us with too much medical stuff. Pregnancy confidential is hosted by editors from Parent.

One popular parenting blog that serves us vital tips and helps parents scale through the parenting journey easier is hosted by fit-pregnancy and baby. You may want to check out these blogs too.

What I love about the pregnancy confidential podcast are the week-to-week updates. You can start up from the first episode for expectant parents and track your baby’s growth, development, and well-being.

You can listen to this pregnancy podcast if you do not have time to read pregnancy books often. Listen to the podcast for your 4th, 10, or even 20thweekof pregnancy, and you still get fresh content.

My favorite episode is episode 13, “Who Say’s We Can’t Eat For Two.” I particularly enjoyed this episode because I was almost over-eating after my first trimester.

However, I got a new strategy for eating right. I started eating less portions and more frequently. As a result, I was able to have a belly-only pregnancy.

I completely relate with one tip they stated. They shared that while it is good to eat varieties in pregnancy, we should eat balanced and healthy meals, and we shouldn’t forget portion control.

Dania, Mindy, Juliet Henderson, and Julia had an excellent discourse dissecting what and what not to eat at 13 weeks while considering women’s cravings and how healthy the foods are.

4.  Parent Tip For The Day

Here is another parenting podcast from the parenting blog Parents and Parent magazines. Parents’ tips for the day are shared with their audience valuable tips.

And who wouldn’t helpful information, tricks, or advice that will help you parent better each day? I know you wouldn’t want to miss out on each daily podcast.

However, listening to each day’s episode may come in handy when you need the right advice for a particular tacky situation with your kids.

Each episode is short (5 minutes max) and straight to the point, with valuable content, so what you seek is what you get. I like that the contents are always based on an expert’s evaluation and view, not just hearsay or personal feeling.

Hence, you are sure of getting valid information from professionals. My favorite episode is “Some Think Coco Melon Is Too Stimulating For Kids”.

“Coco Melon” caught my attention, as my son loves Coco Melon videos a lot, so I was eager to hear from experts if it was harmful or not.

I am glad that they established that it wasn’t, and as what children watch onscreen, either Coco Melon or paw patrol should be regulated to avoid screen-time addiction.

5.  Mom And Dad Are Fighting

The name of this parenting podcast is quite catching. Indeed it is. A mother and father’s fight is super common in homes lately, and it has become so glaring to kids, which is why this podcast has come to fill the gap.

Hosts Jamilah Lemieux, Elizabeth New Camp, and Zak Rosen X-rays on the highs and lows of parenting offer parental advice on topics relating to parents and their kids.

Even issues about extended family and society are not left out. This podcast treats vast issues areas, and each episode piques my interest.

I have a favorite episode that talks about Intimacy. It sounds hilarious or shocking, depending on how you think of it when your child asks about your intimate life.

I was so open to learning what to do if my child asked about my sex life. Because if it were my child who asked such a question, I would have been shocked.

Since I do not have a teenager, I was open to hearing answers, if I am thrown such a question. I loved Dan’s reply; indeed, your love life should not be open for dissection.

You may want to learn more about this topic by listening to this episode, Mom and Dad Are Fighting is brought to you by slate.com.

7.  The Longest Shortest Time Podcast

This parenting podcast was birthed from experience dealing with episiotomy pain for almost 3years; this birthed the idea of the most extended shortest time podcast.

For founder and Journalist Hilary Frank, Initially, the intention was to share her birth story of painful and challenging labor, but in time, a lot of others connected and expanded to other areas in motherhood and parenting. From the LFT, you will learn about everything from childbirth, parenting young kids, etc.

LFT podcast is concluded, but you can still check out the longest shortest time.com and listen to the different episodes. Trust me; you will so love them. I like that the LFT podcast talks about real-life stories of everyday parents.

And suggestions on how to deal with these struggles. My favorite episode is “When YouTube Is Your Birth Coach.” I particularly enjoyed Tia’s birth story.

New parents, soon-to-be parents, and trying to conceive parents, you would love this parenting podcast. The birth hour podcast is one of the best parenting podcasts for new parents.

It gives listeners updates on everything about pregnancy, delivery, and after. So if you are looking for topics on hypnobirthing, episiotomy, and cesarean section, check this podcast out for postpartum depression and loads of other info about birthing.

I love that each episode talks about pregnancy experiences. These stories are so interesting that listening to them wouldn’t bore you, and as a mom or soon-to-be mom, you can gain valuable insights from other women’s experiences.

My favorite episode is “A powerful Intense and Rewarding Hospital Birth story”. The birth hour is hosted by Bryn and author and mom of three.

She is passionate about letting women know about the birth options available and more about motherhood.

This is like a call line for everything parenting. It primarily dwells on the ups and downs of parents and how we can handle these challenges.

There are topics about communicating with teenagers, dealing with kids with Autism, challenges of the modern-day father, and lots more. Parent line offers a variety of issues that you can listen to from each episode.

If you have an energetic child (like mine), who is into sports, you should listen to Parents In Sports.

This parenting podcast is quite different from the rest because it centers on a specific area of youth’s life. Parents in sports are also helpful for coaches, caregivers, clubs, or organizations engaged in teens and youth sports.

The founder is Gordon Maclelland, a teacher and sports coach. Each podcast episode hosts a variety of sport professional treating vital topics relating to children, teens & youth sports.

This podcast also treats vital issues about teenage life and teen-parent relationship. Teens, parents, teen teachers, coaches, and careers, can find this podcast super beneficial.

My favorite episode is “How To Use Mystery To Motivate Teens.” Here Jonah Lehrer gives strategic tips and tricks to motivate teenagers unusually. It is an episode every parent should listen to.

This podcast helps parents in their approach to their kids. Raising kids come with flexibility, open-mindedness, and the need to learn, unlearn and relearn.

You also need to know the appropriate parenting language for different kids and different situations. This podcast offers you insight into meeting your child’s particular physical, mental-emotional needs.
